Jackie earned her diploma in Commercial Studies and was employed by the Managing Director of Lucas TVS, Padi, Madras till 1977.
After a whirlwind romance, Jackie married Lester Hickman of Tangasseri, Quilon, Kerala, India on January 14th, 1978. She took up a part-time job at the Lady of Lourdes School, on Mohawk Road, Hamilton as a Lunch Room supervisor. This was done specifically to look after her younger son Andrew who needed her.
Jackie went suddenly – like a candle in the wind. She died as she lived – selflessly continuing her life without letting anyone worry about her illness. Her death was caused by a massive brain hemorrhage on December 14th, 2005 at 10:50 am at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton, Ontario Canada.
Jackie was the most fun, loving and outgoing person. She lived, laughed and loved. People described her as someone who embraced life with a vibrant enthusiasm – living it to the fullest. She was spontaneous, fun loving, always laughing and ready for anything. Jackie just had a way of creating fun and laughter all around her whether it was at the movies, shopping, dancing, and dining out or just at home. She possessed the demure of a perfect lady, well-dressed, soft spoken and polite. Jackie was well-known as a selfless wife, mother, friend and family member who always put others first.
No person is ever truly alone. Those who live no more, whom we loved, Echo still within our thoughts. Our words, our hearts And what they did And what they were Becomes a part of all that we are. FOREVER
Jackie, we would like to celebrate your great love for your family. We could always count on you to be there for us and your generosity knew no bounds.
You lived, laughed, loved. We will all hold special memories of you. Thank you Jackie darling for the gift of love that you brought to each of us. May your soul rest in peace my love.
Love you always and forever.
Lester, Phil & Andrew
