Company History
Newspapers have traditionally been the main source to find and read obituary notices. But, with the growing popularity of the Internet, today’s 24-hour world, coupled with many people having family and friends living and working in different parts of the world, Obituaries Today felt the Internet would be a natural complement to a traditional newspaper notice.
In response, Obituaries Today, which was established in October 1998, developed a quick, cost efficient and effective method of communicating information regarding someone’s death to family's, friends and acquaintances at home and around the world. The initial idea was to place obituary notices on the Internet with a "Book of Condolence" and simple directions to the funeral home arranging the funeral.
Obituaries Today’s services have now grown to include memorial tributes, interactive Books of Condolence, funeral home web-site building and hosting and e-commerce solutions. Obituaries Today is now Canada’s premiere Internet portal for obituary notices, memorial tributes, funeral home information and related products and services. Obituaries Today continues to gain public awareness through its growing number of participating funeral homes, extensive marketing campaigns and strategic alliances. Obituaries Today is now featured on the home page of Canoe.ca (Canada’s largest Internet portal for news and information). Obituaries Today will continue to develop its’ services in response to the suggestions, needs and expectations of the public and the funeral industry.
