Born December 27th, 1958 in San Giovanni Rotondo Foggia Italia. Passed peacefully on October 5th 2009 in Hamilton, Ontario. Everyone who has been touched by cancer at some point is of the same thought. Tragic that it has struck the people we love, but relief that their suffering has finally ceased. Giovanni fierily battled cancer for 20 months and did so with the dignity and strength of his character. He passed in his home surrounded by his wife, children, and parents by his side. He was a gentle man and remained so throughout his journey. He was loved and respected by those who had the privilege of knowing him. Giovanni is survived by his loving wife of 24 and a half years, Lellina Scibetta. Son, Matthew John and his daughter, Amanda Felicia. Beloved son of Matteo Cassano and Grazia Fini. Brother of Joe and sister-in-law Rita, Anthony and sister-in-law Sherri, Mario and sister-in-law Anna Marie. Zio to Daniella, Matthew, Sophie, Lucas, Michael, Lily. Much loved and respected son-in-law of Tony Scibetta and Louise Gauthier. Giovanni has gone to be with his loving grandparents, Nonni Giovanni Cassano and Siena Maria Giuseppa and Nonni Giuseppe Fini and Cocomazzi Carmella. A special grandson by marriage to Nana Mary Gauthier and great nephew of Uncle John Crofton, both in heaven. A very special Peppino to his godson, Vincent, and his sister, Julia Rose Scibetta-Benincasa. He thanks his cousin by marriage, Lina Scibetta, for the honour of being her child’s godfather. Giovanni enjoyed 20 years of labour of love as a head stone mason for Aldershot Landscaping. Respectfully remembering Joe DeLuca, a gentleman who John admired, and his son and grandson, Bill and Justin. Thank you for the respect and kindness through the years. John joins his work partner and brother in life, Joao Amaral in heaven. Lady and Simba, his devoted dogs. Your company and love kept him smiling. Man’s best friend. Giovanni has requested NO FLOWERS.
